Get to Know Dr. John Farthing
Dr. John Farthing has been practicing dentistry for close to a decade and enjoys building relationships with both patients and team members. Originally from Denver, CO, he values the connection that develops over time and the opportunity to help patients feel confident in their smiles. He also loves working with a positive team, and he can’t wait to greet new faces. Read on to learn a little more about him before visiting our office.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Farthing’s interest in dentistry began early through his father, a periodontist, who gave him exposure to the field while growing up. As he became more involved in observing dental work and reviewing radiographs, he began to see dentistry as a natural fit. Over time, his desire to help others and work in a hands-on, collaborative environment led him to pursue dentistry as a career where he could combine science, skill, and patient care.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Farthing earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Colorado State University. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Today, he remains committed to continuing education to expand his expertise, and he’s an active member of the American Dental Association and the Maryland State Dental Association.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Away from dentistry, Dr. Farthing enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife—who is also a dentist—and their two young children. Much of his free time is centered around family activities, from reading stories and playing with his kids to enjoying time outdoors. He also likes swimming, skiing, reading, following sports, and working in the yard when he can.
